Tab Tamer browser extension · Last updated 2 August 2026
Tab Tamer collects nothing and transmits nothing. The extension makes no network requests at all — there is no server, no account and no analytics. Everything it shows you is read from your own browser and stays there.
Chrome asks you to grant these permissions when you install Tab Tamer. Each one exists for a single visible feature:
tabs |
Read the titles and URLs of your open tabs so they can be listed, searched, switched to, closed, suspended and deduplicated. This is the extension's core function. |
|---|---|
storage |
Store your saved sessions and your chosen theme in your browser's local storage, on your device. |
bookmarks |
Read your bookmarks so they can appear in search results next to your open tabs. |
scripting + activeTab |
Draw the search palette on the page you are currently looking at — and only when you open it. Tab Tamer does not have permission to run on sites in the background. |
favicon |
Show each site's icon in the list. Icons are read from Chrome's own local favicon cache, never fetched from the internet. |
history (optional) |
Only requested if you press "Include history" yourself. Until you do, Tab Tamer never touches your browsing history — and you can revoke it at any time from chrome://extensions. |
Saved sessions (their names, and the titles and URLs of the tabs in them) and your theme preference are written to your browser's local extension storage. They never leave your device. Tabs opened in Incognito windows are deliberately excluded from saved sessions.
Delete individual sessions from inside the extension, or remove Tab Tamer from
chrome://extensions — uninstalling deletes everything it stored. There is
nothing held anywhere else to request or erase.
Tab Tamer is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children, and collects no data from anyone.

If a future version of Tab Tamer ever changes what it accesses, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
